Well done to my student Daniel.
x1 pandemic and x1 baby later, I'm delighted to announce that my project Mujeres ¡Presentes! is back with a vengeance at the Leeds Opera Festival on 10th September at Heart in Headingly.
Developed in collaboration with Spanish soprano Lorena Paz Nieto, Mujeres ¡Presentes!: The Secret Songs of Women Latina Composers showcases the art songs of x17 women composers from across Spain and Latin America, spanning three centuries and including several UK premieres.

Hope to see you there!
So proud to be involved in curating this ground-breaking UK festival! The 2023 Leeds Opera Festival is inspired by the music and opera of Latin America. Taking place in venues and communities across the city, the Festival will bring together outstanding local, national and international talent - foregrounding artists with Latin American heritage.
The programme centres on two opera productions: a new take on Astor Piazzolla's tango-operita, María de Buenos Aires, directed by Natalia Luis-Bassa, and the UK premiere of Roberto Rodríguez' Frida - which recounts the life of the great Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, conducted by Odaline de la Martínez.
In addition the Festival line-up also includes dance workshops, film screenings, children's events and three concerts (including one featuring yours truly):
Fri 8 Sep - Ahmed Dickinson (guitar), Seven Arts Leeds
Sat 9 Sep - Jose Luis Nieto (piano), Castle Grove Hall Leeds
Sun 10 Sep - Lorena Paz Nieto (voice) & Helen Glaisher-Hernandez (piano), HEART Leeds
