Developing my TangOpera project has been a slow process - I first launched it at the Southbank Centre in 2013. But I am delighted to announce that it has now reached 'maturity': I have been in Buenos Aires over November and December turning it into my first album.
The recording features tenor, Leonardo Pastore (pictured above), soprano, Jaquelina Livieri and mezzo-soprano, Florencia Machado - all leading figures on Argentina's operatic stages - alongside soloists from the Buenos Aires Philharmonic and other special guests.
The album is due for release in mid-2020 - watch this space!
For a while I've been researching repertoire by women Latin composers and tracking down scores, and I'm now proud to present a new programme for 2019 in collaboration with the Spanish soprano, Lorena Paz Nieto: 'Mujeres ¡Presentes!: the Secret Songs of Women Latina Composers'. We will be launching the programme at the October Gallery on 15th Nov as part of Echoes Festival. Tickets & more info at: https://www.echoesfestival.co.uk/15nov19
